Josh Smith trade rumors sprung up this past week, with the Phoenix Suns reportedly interested (and then not) in J-Smoove.
ESPN's Marc Stein reported that Atlanta is "gauging the trade value of their players and assessing their options." But the Hawks won't be moving J-Smoove without receiving "a bona fide star player" in return.
The Hawks won't be adding salary heading into this summer's free-agency session when they're expected to make a play for Dwight Howard (along with the Dallas Mavericks).
Smith may have also dented his value by declaring himself a max player and without giving assurances that he'd re-sign with whatever team trades for him, Stein reported.
Smith is likely to test the free-agency waters this summer.
