This isn't going to make Zeb Colter happy. Jack Swagger was arrested for DUI and marijuana possession after Tuesday night's SmackDown taping in Biloxi, Mississippi.
The Biloxi-Gulfport Sun Hearald reported that Swagger (real name Donald Jacob Hager) was dinged for speeding in a 2013 Ford Taurus around 11:59 p.m. And then cops allegedly found the hippie lettuce. Could the weed have been planted by undocumented immigrants? Uh, no.
Swagger was released and given a March 12 court hearing on the three charges, all misdemeanors. Swagger is in the midst of the biggest push of his career, and this is a good way to blow it.
Yes, he's a former World Heavyweight Champion, but he received a weak run.
After returning with a strong push, Swagger won the Elimination Chamber match, setting up a WrestleMania match with Alberto Del Rio. He's been booked as a killer, with wins over Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton (on the SmackDown taping in question).
This is the type of thing that'll cost you your push. And the punishment from WWE could come down easy (he's fined $2,500 and allowed to wrestle out the program), medium (he's replaced in the angle and jobbed out) or hard (he's future endeavored).
With the Rob Van Dam precedent, he's likely in for a string of losses. It all depends on how angry Vince McMahon is that a featured program -- on designed to get national media attention -- is put at risk by a space cadet.
WWE's response to TMZ over the arrest was pretty chilly: "Mr. Swagger is responsible for his own personal actions."
