One of those other players may be Beno Udrih. ESPN's Marc Stein reported that a trade sending the backup point guard to the Dallas Mavericks could come close to the deadline if he's not needed in a deal for J-Smoove.
Smith sticking in a small market doesn't sound like it would be an issue. CBS Sports' Ken Berger reported that Smith would be willing to re-sign in Milwaukee as long as he's surrounded by talent. In fact, he'd prefer a deal in which Ellis stays. But who wouldn't? The Bucks will have to give to get, so Ellis or Brandon Jennings, who has been deemed untouchable, would have to go back. Maybe Ersan Ilyasova gets the deal done, but the rumbles seem to point to Ellis. UPDATE: ESPN's Chris Broussard's sources are telling him that the Bucks aren't dealing Ellis to Atlanta for Smith.
UPDATE II: Woj reports that Milwaukee and the Phoenix Suns are the frontrunners for J-Smoove, while Boston is a "darkhorse."At this point, it'll be disappointing if the deadline passes with no deal.
