Deron Williams has received at least eight shots in his inflamed ankles in the last four months. The New York Daily News reported that D-Will received two cortisone shots Thursday. He'd previously received four cortisone shots and two platelet-rich plasma injections.
Williams made just 5-of-17 shots, finishing with 15 points and 13 assists in Friday night's loss to the Houston Rockets. Nets GM Billy King told the Daily News, “If we can find time to get them rest, it would be good." That should be a red flag for fantasy owners.
Though D-Will doesn't see himself sitting out for an extended time, fantasy owners should be wary and put out feelers to gauge Williams' trade value. The Nets only have two four games left this season, and the next one isn't for three weeks.
If I could swap D-Will for Jeff Teague -- who has six four-game weeks in a row -- I'd pull the trigger.
