The pipeline between the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings is still open. A week after a six-player trade that sent No. 5 pick Thomas Robinson to H-Town, the Kings bought out reserve -- and sometimes starting --point guard Aaron Brooks Friday.
Brooks is expected to sign with his old team, the Houston Rockets, when he clears waivers early next week, Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported. Brooks will be eligible to play for the Rockets if they make the playoffs since he was released before the midnight deadline.
In 46 games with the Kings, Brooks averaged 8 points, 1 3-pointer, 1.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and .6 steals while playing 20.8 minutes. Houston was the site of his greatest success.
In the 2009-10 season, his third year as a pro, he averaged 19.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 5.3 assists and .8 steals). His career has been on the skids since, and he was dealt to Phoenix in the 2010-11 season. He spent the lockout playing in China, and signed a two-year deal with the Kings this year.
Brooks is owned in 2 percent of Yahoo leagues. He's unlikely to gain much value as he's solidly behind Jeremy Lin in the rotation.
