The Boston Celtics want to trade for Kyle Lowry, not so much Rudy Gay

Kyle Lowry is on the Boston Celtics' growing wishlist of players to trade for before the February 21 trade deadline. The Toronto Raptors point guard's name was floated within a few hours of Rajon Rondo's season ending to an ACL tear.

ESPN's Marc Stein reported that the Celtics are more likely to chase Lowry than Rudy Gay. The question remains whether the Celts have the assets to get Lowry -- and if Toronto is ready to dump Lowry. 

Raptors beat writer Ryan Wolstat doesn't believe the Raps are ready to do so.

As far as the Celtics moving Paul Pierce, Stein doesn't see them doing so to take on two more years of a high-priced Rudy Gay.

Celts, meantime, have shown exploratory interest in Gay but they're $1.3M over tax line. Adding long-term money at this juncture? Unlikely

Sense I get is it's far likelier Celts pursue Kyle Lowry and his cap-friendly contract. But do Celts have assets to land Raps PG? We'll see

 The Celtics have also been rumored to have interest in J.J. Redick but, again, may not have the assets to get him.
